Manchester City vs Feyenoord

Our prediction for this Champions League match

Fallen Premier League giants Manchester City will look to put an end to their five-game losing run in all competitions when they face Feyenoord on Tuesday evening. The Citizens suffered a heart-breaking 4-0 loss to Tottenham at the weekend and, no doubt, they are desperate to return to winning ways as soon as possible. Playmaker Kevin De Bruyne is widely expected to return to the starting XI, with Jack Grealish pushing for a start as well, while Jeremy Doku faces race against clock to be fit for the match.

De Trots van Zuid, on the other hand, have been having their ups and downs in the Champions League this term, beating both Girona and Benfica on the road, while losing to Salzburg and Bayer Leverkusen at home. Anyhow, home win should be considered this time out as Pep Guardiola’s men will not have a better chance than this to get back on course. To make things even worse for the away team, midfielder Chris Nadje misses the trip to England through suspension.

How the bookies view it: City red-hot favourites

Despite their awful form, City are FC178‘s  2/11 hot favourites to bounce back with a win. Feyenoord are 12/1 rank outsiders and the draw pays 6/1.

Head to head: Guardiola looking to complete the hat-trick

These sides locked horns in the Champions League group stage seven years ago and Man City came out on top in both games, following up a 4-0 victory in Rotterdam with a 1-0 win at the Etihad.

Players to watch: Foden the Euro talisman

This game comes before a huge Premier League clash with Liverpool but Guardiola should still field a strong team as Manchester City can’t afford another slip. Phil Foden has scored in three Champions League games this term and is 6/5 with Jilipark to add to that tally here.

Brazilian midfielder Igor Paixao has chipped in with three goals for Feyenoord this term and could be a good long-odds option in this game. He’s 11/2 for anytime scorer at 777pub and 20/1 to net from outside the box.

Probable line-ups

Mateo Kovacic is a doubt for Manchester City after missing the clash with Spurs while Ruben Dias and Rodri remain on the sidelines. Wingers Jack Grealish and Matheus Nunes were both fit enough for the bench at the weekend so are in contention.

Feyenoord are missing some players, with star forwards Santiago Gimenez and Ayase Ueda ruled out along with Jordan Lotomba and Ibrahim Osman. The Dutch side also have doubts over Justin Bijlow and Quilindschy Hartman. Chris-Kevin Nadje is suspended after his red card against Salzburg.

Manchester City: Ederson, Gvardiol, Akanji, Ake, Lewis, Stones, Silva, Savinho, De Bruyne, Foden, Haaland.

Feyenoord: Wellenreuther, Bueno,  Trauner, Smal, Hancko, Nieuwkoop, Hwang In-Beom, Timber, Paixao, Ivanusec, Carranza.
